Hand rendered lettering

The word Yorkshire, in this mug design by Bykerlass, has been playfully executed. It plays with positive and negative shapes between and within letters. The incorporation of the white rose of Yorkshire within the counter of the letter 'O' is an example of this as is an enlarged lowercase 'i' completely occupying the interletter space between 'H' and 'R'

This lettering was created by Sean McSorley using hand cut rubber stamps. His book design was the winning entry for the Book Illustration Competition, 2014, organised jointly by The Folio Society and the House of Illustration.
